Joseph & Sarah Thurston's House



The earliest known person is George AVERILL, circa 1760 living in the Newnham area of Gloucestershire.

His grandson, also George, born in 1820 established a branch of the family in Dymock, Gloucestershire.

George's younger sister Sarah married Joseph THURSTON who ran a Coach Service from Dymock to Gloucester. The house they lived in is shown to the left.

The surname has been variously spelt- Averill, Averil, Averile, Averille, Averell, up to three being recorded within one family generation.
